Hey,
This IPL 2009 season would stretch from April 18th to May 24th comprising a total of 56 mathes to be played on 34 days.
However, unlike the last season, the tournament has been moved out of India as it was clashing with the parliamentary elections in the country.
So guys, DLF Indian Premier League 2009 is being held in South Africa and the eight venues finalized are: Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, East London, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Kimberley.
Let’s find out if it is going to make an impact:
- IPL seems to be getting some bit of an Intenational presence as this time it has gone global.
- The domestic viewership doesn’t seem to be affected, rather it is expected to catch up more craze, this being the second time.
- However, the domestic audience turnout in the stadia has gone down and is further likely to go down remarkably as it has obviously become an ‘overseas’ and hence a much more expensive affair.
- But there seems another flip side to it, that it is likely to attract a huge number of locals from South Africa as well as tourists from all across the world, due to South Africa being a big-time tourist hub!
