World Kindness Day, a day when every human being shows kindness & acts for the other. The purpose of World Kindness Day is to look beyond ourselves, beyond the boundaries of our country, beyond our culture, our race, our religion; and realise we are citizens of the world. As world citizens we have a commonality, and must realise that if progress is to be made in human relations and endeavours the only thing that helps is kindness, when we find likenesses with someone, we begin to experience kindness.
There are so many people in the world to show kindness to. Show your kindness to someone who really needs it. If you look around or while moving around the city, you are bound to come across poor & hungry children, pleading for food. Why not show some kindness to them & feed them. If cooking is a problem then log on to BookMyKhana.com and check out online menus, select dishes or sweets & order online to request your food or sweets at your desired address.
Distribute the food & sweets amongst those poor and hungry children. See the faces filled with smile & eyes blessing your soul. Show your act of kindness. Make a Difference!

Add a New Flavour to the Celebrations
Friday, October 30th, 2009Guru Nanak Jayanti is a special occasion for Sikhs all across India & globe. Prabhat Pheris or the early morning religious procession goes around the localities singing hymns, starting three weeks before the festival. Devotees offer sweets and tea when the procession passes by their houses. The Shri Guru Granth Sahib is read continuously. Local bands play religious music and marching school children form a special part of the procession. Various school students, eminent citizens, Gatka Parties display mock-battle with the traditional weapons, and devotees singing hymns from Shri Guru Granth Sahib in chorus. The passage of the ‘nagarkirtan’ is decorated with flags, flowers; religious posters decorated gates and banners depicting various aspects of Sikhism. On the Gurupurab day, the Divan begins in at about 4 or 5 a.m. with the singing of Asa-di-var and hymns from Shri Guru Granth Sahib. Sometimes it is followed by katha (discourse), religious and Sikh Historical lectures and recitation of poems in praise of the Guru. Kirtan-Darbars and Amrit Sanchar ceremonies are also held in the Gurdwara hall. Men, women, and children, participate in this ‘karseva‘ as a service to the community, cook food and distribute it in the ‘Guru ka Langar‘, with the traditional ‘Karah Prasad‘. But amidst all these activities there is one thing that is missing, the free distribution of sweets to everyone irrespective of religious faith.

Honour Your Elders Forever
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009October 1, many of us don’t even know what is special about this day. Well, folks it’s World Elders Day. A day dedicated to our elders, who brought us in this world & made us stand on our own feet.
Many of us think that providing only basic amenities like a place to stay, food to eat, some money and new clothes during occasions is enough to make our elders happy. Unfortunately, we fail to accomplish their most logical and humane anticipation of spending quality time with them. It doesn’t mean that we spend hours together with them; it only means that we spend a few minutes time for a conversation with them & share a laugh or two.
So, this World Elders Day, let’s celebrate with our elders & give them a reason to smile & cheer up. Order online from BookMyKhana.com their favourite dishes & sweets. You can also send them a surprise food & sweet gift through BookMyKhana.com, if you are away from them. Apart from that do everything else to make them feel happy!
Remember, we all are going to get old someday & by helping our elders stay physically fit and mentally happy, we are only helping ourselves and our future.
