Wake Up !!!

Dearest Fellow Citizens!
Make sure that you don’t miss to cast a vote this election season, as we have some eye openers to wake you up to the realities of voting and the repercussions of not voting:

stamp1
Vote for your own sake! Do yourself a favor for you are the one to bear the consequences of a faulty system or reap the benefits of good governance! Choice is yours!

Nothing else but your mere participation in the poll will let your voice be heard- All you need to do is to head down to your nearest polling station on the day of voting! Is that what you call an effort? Well, if yes, then voting is worth the effort!

Be an active agent and not a passive recipient - Bring about a change, don’t be at the receiving end! Realize your power to act, power to raise voice!

Every drop constitutes the ocean- Every single vote makes the voice one unit louder. Shed the notion that if you don’t vote, then someone else might vote in your place! So a single vote from you can make it or break it!

Criticize only if you Choose- If you miss to cast vote, you are stripped off your right to complain! So next time when you crib about the misfit government, ask yourself if you are justified in doing so?!

Be pro-active rather than reactive- Prevention is better than cure as we always say, so why let it go wrong yet again?! Let us prevent ourselves from getting injured this time!

Voting is a call of duty in the larger interest of the nation- Be a responsible citizen and perform your fundamental duty!

Last but not the least, Be privileged…Don’t be deprived- Avail the privilege of democracy which many other nations are deprived of. At least do justice to the privilege granted to you by your nation! Always remember that voting is a privilege, not a right, granted to you by your nation. So it is high time that we don’t take it for granted anymore, or otherwise, we may actually land into a nightmarish nation with no privileges or rights, but only a pain and a curse to live through!

I want to give the Vote but i dont have voter identity card what should do for that

  2. BookMyKhana says:

    Hey Sam!

If you are already issued with a voter ID card (Electors Photo Identity Card), it is mandatory for you to carry it on the day of voting. However, if it has not yet been issued, you can carry any other approved identity proof document instead. So, if you don’t have one right now, no need to rush for it! You can anytime apply for it post elections!
In case you have lost your voter ID card, you can apply for a duplicate voter ID card through Form 002. Also lodge an FIR with the police and submit this FIR document along with a copy of Form 002 to your Electoral Registration Officer with Rs 25 as a penalty amount.

  4. BookMyKhana says:

    Well Sam,

As you are keen to acquire a voter ID card, let us tell you that the mere possession of voter ID card doesn’t entitle you to voting.

The first and foremost condition for being able to vote is that your name should appear in the voter’s list of your constituency (the area/city that you are residing in).
Now, to get this done you will have to apply for voter registration by filling Form 6 and submitting at the office of your Electoral Registration Officer.

You can also obtain a voter ID card by filling Form 001A along with Form 6 which shall take care of both voter registration as well as getting Voter ID.

    dudes!!
i dont even have a voter i card!!

  6. BookMyKhana says:

    Dear Anirudh!

If you are already issued with a voter ID card, it is mandatory for you to carry it on the day of voting. However, if it has not yet been issued, you can carry any other approved identity proof document instead. So, if you don’t have one right now, no need to rush for it! You can anytime apply for it post elections.

But do make sure that you are registered in the electoral roll of your constituency as this is the prime pre-requisite for being able to vote.
For this purpose, you need to apply for voter registration by filling Form6 and submitting at the office of your local Electoral Registration Officer along with a copy of your address proof.

  7. Banasmita Baruah says:

    Dear BMK

Thanks for your email and informations.
    I need some information.

There is a mistake in my name in my voter ID card.
I am staying at Dwarka, Sector-12, New Delhi-110075.
    My constituency is “Matiala”.
Can you tell me where can I correct my voter ID card.

  8. BookMyKhana says:

    Hi Banasmita!

Voter ID card is forever, whether you change your address or not. It is useful only as a voter identification document at polling booths on the election day. Therefore, it remains equally valid even if you have relocated.

Your problem is more to do with the voter registration process. Here it goes:

If you got relocated and now reside in a different constituency, then you should get your name deleted from the place you earlier resided, by applying through Form7, and again apply for voter registration by submitting Form 6 to the electoral registration officer of the new constituency while mentioning your new address. Note that you can only be registered at one place; registration in more than one place amounts to an offence.

If you are not aware of what this voter registration process is all about, then note the following:

Voter registration is the process of enrolling your name in the electoral roll (voter listing) of your constituency, which is the first requirement for being able to vote. You can apply for voter registration by filling Form 6, and submitting it to your local Electoral Registration Officer along with a copy of your address proof.

  9. Jasbir says:

    dear friend

i am voter from delhi but now shifted to punjab. can i vote here or i have to change my address and if yes where and how.
    pl advise

  10. BookMyKhana says:

    Dear Jasbir,

For your information, you can vote from whichever place/constituency you want to or rather you currently reside in.

All you need to do is to get your name deleted from the voter’s list of the place/constituency you earlier resided in (which is Delhi in your case), by applying through Form 7 i.e. if ever your voter registration was done in Delhi, then you need to get it cancelled.

Having done this, you should again apply for voter registration by submitting Form 6 to the electoral registration officer of your new constituency i.e. Punjab while mentioning your new address.
